Our School has been in existence since 1905. Originally our school consisted of grades first through twelfth, and was a public school built on parish grounds and staffed by religious Sisters of the Ursuline Order. When the area began to consolidate rural schools, the school was closed in 1967. In 1996, the parish community was eager to reopen the school. Our small parish raised in excess of one million dollars to build our beautiful school. In the fall of 2000, Holy Rosary-Wea Catholic School re-opened its doors. The first year the school opened with preschool through fourth grade, and in the short years since, we have grown to preschool through eighth grade.
Our school has many programs that support the needs of each student. We utilize Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to ensure that students' academic needs are consistently being met in the classroom. Our STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) lab utilizes project based learning to build the foundations of collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and resolve. Our staff ensures these concepts and methods from our lab are carried over into our classrooms.
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) are implemented at all grade levels. This has built a positive culture that focuses on the great things our students do each day, while also allowing staff to coach and intervene when needed. Our parents are our partners and we believe in communicating as much as possible either in person or on the phone. Yes, we have weekly school-wide and classroom newsletters, but our open door and direct communication philosophy ensures that we are building solid, long-lasting relationships with each family.
We are proud of our school and appreciate the support of our entire parish and greater community. It is thanks to their belief in our school that we continue to flourish.
